Add to that refurbished spaces like The Yard, a former police station transformed into contemporary office space, and it is easy to see why so many businesses are being drawn to this enterprise hotspot.
As well as the high-quality, well-connected office spaces on offer, businesses at Riverside Sunderland can also tap into superfast internet as the city rolls out 5G networks, as well as access to a rich talent pool with five regional universities close to Sunderland providing a stream of skilled people who can easily travel into the city, and a range of business support from the city’s Business Investment Team, on hand to ensure every company enjoys a soft landing into Sunderland.
The Beam
This flagship office kick-started the regeneration of the Riverside Sunderland site, offering 59,000 sq ft of prime space. The Beam is home to Ocado Retail, Asset55 and North East Screen, with more than 400 employees benefitting from the building’s light, bright and airy working environment and far-reaching views over the coast, North Sea and the magnificently winding River Wear.
City Hall
Winner of a multitude of accolades for exceptional design, City Hall is an outstanding building and a statement of ambition for Riverside Sunderland. A hive of activity, this is the beating heart of the development and is one product of a combined £100m investment in the site by Legal & General.
Maker & Faber
Maker & Faber delivers a combined 150,000sq ft of Grade A super-sustainable office space, with panoramic views that must be seen to be believed. The two buildings, funded by Legal & General, offer world-class accommodation, built to promote good health and wellbeing.
The Yard
A stunning refurb has seen this former police station transformed into a stylish office space which is already home to a cluster of ambitious firms. This building on the edge of Keel Square has been tastefully reimagined, arranged over four floors, with spaces from 500 sq ft to 24,000 sq ft.
Gayle Woodruffe, Operations Director, North East Screen
“It’s so up and coming around there. It’s a phenomenal place to be. Sunderland is culturally at the heart of what’s going on. Culture House, the Fire Station, the Empire Theatre, there’s so much talent in this area and we can’t wait to be a part of it.”
